1. First, Calculate Three Accounts Clearly
Before selection, answer three questions: First, channel scale—how many security checkpoints and X-ray machines does centralized review need to cover? This determines the network and bandwidth design. Second, the manpower account—the core benefit of centralized review is optimizing the configuration of review positions, so you need to estimate the change in review manpower after introducing AI pre-screening. Third, the management account—centralized review brings image review quality into a measurable, traceable system, which is often the hidden benefit that managers value most.
2. How to Evaluate Hard Metrics
When assessing AI recognition capabilities, don't just look at the advertised detection rate. Pay more attention to: the false alarm rate (which directly impacts review workload), single-image processing latency (whether it meets peak throughput), compatibility with imaging from multiple X-ray machine brands (on-site equipment is rarely from a single brand), and data security capabilities (whether images and review records are fully retained and auditable).
3. Pilot Design: Small Steps, Fast Iteration
We recommend starting with a small-scale pilot covering 1-2 stations and no more than 10 channels, to validate three key processes: the real-time image upload and distribution pipeline, the handoff mechanism between AI pre-screening and manual review, and the closed-loop traceability of anomaly events. The pilot should cover at least one month of peak passenger flow to verify system throughput and recognition performance with real data.
4. Four Pitfalls in Large-Scale Deployment
First, network bottlenecks: concurrent uploads from multiple sites require proper bandwidth planning and edge caching. Second, device compatibility: complete the integration checklist for all X-ray machine brands on site in advance. Third, training support: the training for screeners transitioning from standalone to centralized mode cannot be skipped. Fourth, operations and maintenance: centralized review is a production system that requires 7×24 monitoring and rapid response mechanisms. Avoiding these four pitfalls will significantly increase the success rate of large-scale deployment.
